I got a bread machine as a gift about 2 years ago. I thought I would use it once it a while for making specialty breads only. Boy was I wrong!
I started out using only the recipes in the booklet that came with it. I made some sun-dried tomato bread and olive bread. They were better than expected. All I had to do was literally DUMP all the ingredients into the machine and pressing a button!!!!! Yes - it even BAKES THE BREAD!! The challenge is paying attention to the time it will take to complete the cycle so that you time the finished product to be ready when you want it and not after the meal has been served!
Here are some other things I have used the machine for:
- preparing pizza dough
- combining bagel dough
- mixing dough for rolls
- cinnamon roll kneading
The machine is great for the above because it goes through a "rise" cycle which warms the dough to have it rise quicker.
Essentially, what the machine replaced for me was all the messy mixing and kneading. For the recipes above, I just removed the dough from the machine and baked in the oven. My next attempt---soft pretzels!!!!!!
Wish me good luck!!
